Attacker doused MTA bus driver with lighter fluid

NEW YORK, NY – A man who attacked an MTA bus driver this weekend poured lighter fluid on the driver as he exited the bus. Fortunately, he did not light it.

The New York City Police Department is seeking information on an assault that occurred on Saturday, at approximately 6 pm. A 57-year-old male, working as an on-duty MTA bus driver, was assaulted after announcing that a southbound Bx44 Bus would be going out of service.

The assailant remained on the bus, physically attacked the driver, and poured a bottle of lighter fluid on him before fleeing the scene. The driver was transported to NYC Health and Hospitals/Kings County in stable condition.
