SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY – Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced on Wednesday that Arnaldo Marcano, a 42-year-old man from Bellport, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for a home burglary in Bellport. Marcano was on parole for previous Suffolk County burglary convictions when the crime occurred.

Marcano broke into a residence in Bellport on February 24, 2023, at around 12:25 a.m., stole money, and then fled on foot. Suffolk County Police Officers Edward Spillett and Matthew Spilotros of the Fifth Precinct spotted Marcano walking down the street and apprehended him.

He had been sentenced to 19 years in prison for these crimes and was released on parole on September 23, 2021. Marcano also had a prior conviction for Attempted Burglary in the Third Degree in 2000, for which he served nine months in jail.

Marcano pleaded guilty to Burglary in the Second Degree on May 4, 2023. On Wednesday, Justice John B. Collins sentenced him to 10 years in prison, followed by five years of post-release supervision.
