Woman stabbed while walking daughter in stroller in Downtown Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, NY – Police are investigating after a mother walking her young child in a stroller was stabbed in Downtown Brooklyn on Monday.

At approximately 3:30 p.m., a 34-year-old woman walking with her 3-year-old daughter near Jay Street and Tillary Street was attacked.

According to the police report, as the victim was pushing a stroller with her young daughter inside, an unidentified individual walking by initiated a verbal dispute.


The situation escalated when the individual, threatening harm to the child, prompted the 34-year-old woman to intervene and position herself between the aggressor and the stroller.

The assailant brandished a knife and viciously attacked the victim, stabbing her in the chest and multiple times in both legs. Subsequently, the perpetrator fled the scene on foot, heading northbound on Jay Street.

Emergency services responded to the incident and transported the victim, who sustained serious injuries, to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center.

Her condition has since stabilized. The 3-year-old girl was not injured.

The suspect is described as a female approximately 30 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 160 pounds, with a dark complexion, thin build, and short, black hair. During the assault, the assailant was seen wearing a red jacket, black pants, white sneakers, and carrying a gray purse. The individual was wearing a blonde wig at the time.
