QUEENS, NY – Following a joint operation between the NYPD and Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz’s office, eight individuals have been charged with various offenses related to drug and gun trafficking.

The seven-month-long investigation culminated on Tuesday, with the arrest of the suspects, ranging in age from 22 to 49. The suspects are believed to be part of a drug trafficking operation distributing significant quantities of narcotics, including cocaine and fentanyl, across Queens and other boroughs. Additionally, they have been charged with weapons trafficking, with several unregistered firearms recovered during their arrest.

“This operation sends a clear message: Illegal drugs and firearms trafficking will not be tolerated in our city,” said Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz in a press conference. “I commend the NYPD and all our law enforcement partners for their diligent work in removing these dangerous elements from our streets.”

The names of the individuals arrested in the operation have not yet been released pending further investigation. If convicted, the suspects face substantial penalties, including long prison terms.
