Ocean City reminds visitors smoking weed prohibited in public

OCEAN CITY, MD – The Ocean City Police Department recently posted on their Facebook page regarding the public consumption of cannabis. According to their post, smoking cannabis, including hemp, is prohibited in any public place or motor vehicle. Public places encompass both outdoor spaces and indoor spaces open to the public, such as parks, streets and sidewalks, bars and restaurants, public transportation (buses, vans, trains, taxicabs, limousines), and indoor places of employment.

In Ocean City specifically, this prohibition extends to the Boardwalk and Beach. Smoking cannabis is not permitted in the designated smoking areas on the Boardwalk and Beach.

Furthermore, due to cannabis remaining illegal at the federal level, it is also prohibited to possess cannabis on any federal property, including national parks.
