Drive-by Shooting Sends 5-Year-Old To Hospital In D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A midnight shooting this morning left a 5-year-old girl injured in Southeast, D.C. Detectives from the Washington, D.C. Metro Police Department are investigating the shooting.

Just after 12 am, a vehicle drove by an event at the Berry Farms Rec Center at the 200 Block of Sumner Road. An unidentified person began shooting, and a 5-year-girl at the basketball court was struck in the ankle. She was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and expected to make a full recovery.

Authorities are actively searching for a black Dodge Charger suspected to be linked to the shooting.
