SYRACUSE, NY – On Thursday, June 22, around 12:50 p.m., a team of Special Investigation Division Detectives and Officer Eiffe apprehended Raymond Rivera, a 40-year-old man found with almost 20,000 doses of heroin following a police pursuit in Syracuse.

Upon spotting Rivera on Fabius Street, officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop. However, Rivera sped away, leading the officers on an 11-minute chase across the city. The chase ended when Rivera’s vehicle broke down on the 700 block of Otisco Street.

A search of Rivera’s vehicle uncovered three cellphones, a loaded 9mm magazine, a duffle bag containing approximately 19,250 doses of heroin, 4.1 grams of cocaine, and $828 in cash. Rivera was charged with various drug-related crimes and resisting arrest. He was taken to a local hospital after complaining of chest pain and later transported to the Onondaga County Justice Center.
