FELTON, DE – The Delaware State Police have released the identity of the victim in a fatal collision that took place in Felton. Margie Spain, an 87-year-old woman from Stratford, Connecticut, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on Sunday.
The incident occurred at approximately 7:12 pm, when a 2005 light green Cadillac CTS and a 2021 white Jeep Wrangler collided on S. Dupont Highway (US 13), north of Killens Pond Road. For reasons yet to be determined, the Cadillac lost control, crossed the grassy median, and collided with the Jeep in the northbound lanes.
The collision resulted in both vehicles spinning out and coming to a stop in the grass off the roadway. Apart from Ms. Spain, several others were also injured in the crash.
The Delaware State Police Troop 3 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues their investigation into this incident. As part of their ongoing efforts, they are currently seeking any witnesses to the collision and asking them to come forward with information.
