NEW YORK, NY – In the early morning hours of Wednesday, at approximately 2:21 AM, NYPD officers responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting incident at 2256 Morris Avenue in the Bronx.
Upon their arrival at the scene, law enforcement officers discovered two male victims with gunshot wounds. An 18-year-old male was found with a gunshot wound to the leg, while a 19-year-old male had sustained a gunshot wound to the hip.
Emergency Medical Services arrived and the 18-year-old victim was taken to Saint Barnabas Hospital. Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, he was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
EMS also transported the 19-year-old male victim to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where he remains in stable condition.
During the investigation, law enforcement officials took two individuals into custody who are considered persons of interest in the case. Their identities have been identified as Ariel Velasquez, a 19-year-old male residing at 2663 Heath Avenue in the Bronx, and Ramon Santos, a 28-year-old male residing at 401 East 21 Street in Brooklyn.
Both Velasquez and Santos are facing serious charges including murder, attempted murder, manslaughter, attempted manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon (two counts each).
