Arrest Made in 2022 Murder Case and Whitmer Football Shooting

HOUSTON, TX – On Monday, Jaron Phillips, a 22-year-old man, was arrested in Houston, TX, by the U.S. Marshals. Phillips, who had two active arrest warrants for Improper Handling of a Firearm and Failure to Comply, was charged with additional crimes relating to incidents that occurred in 2022.

Phillips is now also facing charges for the Whitmer Football Game Shooting on October 7, 2022, which includes three counts of Felonious Assault, and the Johnathan Coleman Murder on October 6, 2022, where he is charged with Aggravated Murder and two counts of Attempted Murder. More related charges will be added at the indictment.

Following the arrest, Phillips is expected to be extradited back to Toledo. The investigation continues, and anyone with relevant information is asked to call or text Crimestopper at 419-255-1111.
