Cat dad wins $100k in Maryland lottery

Rawlings, MD – A devoted scratch-off player from Western Maryland has struck gold after carefully tracking the odds and top prizes on various instant tickets.

Like a feline stalking its prey, this player meticulously keeps an eye out for new and exciting scratch-off games. His persistence paid off when he discovered the Hot 7s Multiplier scratch-off at K&S Liquors in Rawlings.

The Hot 7s Multiplier scratch-off is part of a popular family of scratch-off games and offered a total of eight $100,000 top prizes, with six still remaining at the time of the player’s purchase. Additionally, the game featured 24 second-tier prizes worth $10,000 each.

The Allegany County resident purchased three of the $10 scratch-off tickets from K&S Liquors and decided to scan the barcode in his car to check if any of them were winners.

He recalls, “I scanned them in the car and didn’t know what the prize was.”

Satisfied that he had potential winners, he took the remaining tickets home to scratch them off.

When he finally scratched off the winning ticket at home, he couldn’t contain his excitement and immediately called his wife to share the incredible news. “Look at this!” he exclaimed as he revealed the $100,000 top prize to her. The couple is now busy discussing the exciting possibilities that the newfound fortune brings, including treating their cats to some extra special treats.

Remarkably, this lucky winner and his wife were the second pair to claim the top prize in the Hot 7s Multiplier scratch-off on that particular Friday. A woman from the College Park area had arrived at Lottery headquarters earlier to claim the first top prize.

In addition to the player’s win, the retailer that sold the winning scratch-off, K&S Liquors at 25207 McMullen Highway in Allegany County, also gets to celebrate. The store will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Maryland Lottery as a reward for selling the top-prize winning ticket in the game.
