Multiple people charged in Newark crime crackdown

NEWARK, NJ – Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé recently announced several arrests stemming from the Newark Police Division’s Summer Crime Reduction Initiative in June.

Among those apprehended include Lloyde Darby, charged with aggravated assault and weapon possession, related to a shooting on March 24, in the 200 block of 7th Avenue West; Shanyah M. Thompson, facing charges of criminal mischief and weapon possession in connection with a shooting on June 22, in the 300 block of South 8th Street; and Ibn R. Bronson, facing weapons charges for a shooting on May 29, in the 300 block of 16th Avenue.

Several other suspects were also arrested for various charges, including weapon possession, aggravated assault, and more, linked to different shootings that occurred throughout June.
