Three Jersey City Men Charged with Murder in 2020 Shooting Incident

JERSEY CITY, NJ – The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit has recently charged three Jersey City men with the shooting of five men on June 20, 2020, including the fatal shooting of Scott Colclough, 34.

Lamont Wiggins, 25, Sheldon Mays, 23, and Jermaine Jennings, 22, were charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. All three men also face additional charges for criminal activities spanning May to August 2020.

Wiggins and Mays are currently held at the Hudson County Correctional Facility on unrelated charges, while Jennings is in custody at the McKean Federal Correctional Institute in Pennsylvania on unrelated charges. The three men were indicted by a Grand Jury on Thursday, June 29.


On June 20, 2020, Jersey City Police Department officers responded to a report of gunshots fired on Union Street between Martin Luther King Drive and Ocean Avenue. Upon arrival, they found multiple gunshot victims. Scott Colclough was found with multiple gunshot wounds and was later pronounced dead at the Jersey City Medical Center. The cause of death was confirmed as gunshot wounds by the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office. Four other victims with varying degrees of gunshot wounds were also found in the vicinity.
