Ocean County High School Teacher Charged for Sending Lewd Photos to Student

POINT PLEASANT BOROUGH, NJ – On Wednesday, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office charged Matthew Marinelli, 23, with child endangerment and witness tampering. The charges relate to incidents that took place in April and May.

Investigations by the Special Victims Unit found that Marinelli, while employed as a substitute teacher, had sent nude photographs of himself to a student and engaged in sexual communications through internet messaging applications.

Marinelli allegedly contacted the victim multiple times after his termination, asking her to deny any contact and delete any sent communications and photographs.


Marinelli is was held at the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing where he has since been released.
