Boston Resident Charged with Hate Crime Assault in New York City

NEW YORK, NY – Marc Jensen, a 33-year-old Boston resident, was apprehended and charged on Monday, by the New York City Police Department. Jensen faces charges of Hate Crime Assault and Aggravated Harassment.

The charges follow an incident that occurred on Tuesday, May 23, at 1:30 am. A 39-year-old male and female were boarding an Uber at 23 West 32 Street when Jensen allegedly made anti-Asian remarks, spat at the female, and violently shoved the male victim to the ground. The male victim suffered minor leg injuries but refused medical attention. Jensen, described as a male with a light complexion, medium build, and black hair, had fled the scene but is now in custody. The New York Police Department’s Hate Crimes Task Force continues its investigation.
