BERGENFIELD, NJ – Aaron Sierra, a 22-year-old resident of Bergenfield, has been apprehended on charges of attempted murder, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a handgun, receiving stolen property, and obstruction of justice by flight.

The charges were the result of a joint investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Bergenfield Police Department. On May 21, Bergenfield Police responded to reports of shots fired within a private residence. A 20-year-old female victim was discovered at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to an area hospital, where she remains in stable condition.

Sierra is accused of shooting the victim and fleeing the scene. He was considered a fugitive from justice and was apprehended in New York City on July 10, following a brief standoff. Sierra remains hospitalized and, upon his release, will be transferred to the custody of the New York City Department of Corrections pending extradition to Bergen County.
