SUFFOLK COUNTY, N.Y. – Johnnie Funderburke, a 38-year-old resident of Bellport, was recently sentenced to 35 years to life in prison following a conviction last month on multiple counts of drug and weapons charges. Funderburke was sentenced by the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office, led by District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney.

The charges stemmed from a series of undercover operations by the Suffolk County Police Department’s Narcotics Section, which saw Funderburke sell narcotics to an undercover officer on three occasions in June 2021. A subsequent search of Funderburke’s home on July 6, 2021, yielded further drugs, cash, and a loaded 9 mm pistol.

On June 12, a jury found Funderburke guilty on numerous charges, including Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree, multiple counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree.

Funderburke, who has multiple previous felony convictions, was deemed a mandatory persistent violent offender by Acting Supreme Court Justice Anthony S. Senft, Jr. on Wednesday. He was represented by Christopher Brocato, Esq.
