Deadly Shooting Claims Life of 12-Year-Old Boy, Suspect in Custody

MATTAPAN, MA – A 12-year-old boy was pronounced dead following a shooting incident on Thursday afternoon at a Fessenden Street residence in Mattapan. Walter Hendrick, 22, was arrested by the Boston Police Department soon after the incident.

The young victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, was rushed to Boston Medical Center after sustaining a gunshot wound to the torso but did not survive.

Hendrick faces multiple charges including improper storage of a firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm, and unlawful possession of ammunition. The Boston Police Department has assured residents that there is no ongoing threat to public safety related to this incident.
