Teenager Wounded in Street Shootout on Utica

UTICA, NY – An 18-year-old Utica resident was shot twice during a shootout on City Street, according to information provided by the Utica Police Department. On Thursday night, around 9:30 p.m., officers arrived at the 1200 block of City Street, responding to reports of gunfire.

Upon arrival, officers found the teenager suffering from gunshot wounds to his left arm and upper chest. The young man was transported to a local hospital and later moved to Upstate Medical, where he is now reported to be stable.

Investigating officers discovered two distinct sets of shell casings at the scene. A handgun was also located in the backyard of a nearby house, believed by the police to be involved in the shooting. Witnesses at the scene reported two groups exchanging gunfire, with possible suspects identified as three males dressed in dark clothing.


The Utica Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit has taken over the ongoing investigation. Individuals with information regarding potential suspects are asked to contact the unit at 315-223-3461. All information provided will remain confidential.
