TOMS RIVER, NJ – A flood watch has been issued for most of the Jersey Shore for Sunday morning as a passing storm and scattered showers with periods of heavy winds and rains are expected today.
Expect showers and thunderstorms throughout the day. Some of these storms may produce gusty winds and heavy rainfall. The high temperature will be near 88° with a south wind of 5 to 10 mph. There is an 80% chance of precipitation, and additional rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches are possible.
Through Sunday night, showers and thunderstorms are likely, mainly before 8 pm. Patchy fog may develop after 2 am. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy with a low temperature around 69°F (21°C). The wind will shift from south to west at around 5 mph. There is a 60% chance of precipitation, and new rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch are possible.
It is important to note that there is a potential for flash flooding caused by the excessive rainfall. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and low-lying areas.
