OPINION – Something must have ticked former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie off when it comes to former U.S. President Donald Trump. For weeks, Trump has been etched in Christie’s brain like graffiti on the wall of a subway station.
It’s always there. Everyone sees it. It’s embarrassing. But nobody really wants to talk about it, except for news outlets like CNN and MSNBC who are cheering on the former governor as he joins the “We Hate Donald” fan club.
Love or hate Trump, it’s getting quite sad to see an accomplished grown man fight his nemesis on social media like a 6th grade school girl.
Christie has become consumed with Trump. He appears to be winning over a lot of people, including Democrats, America’s far left and the anti-Trump Republican establishment.
What his constant obsession with Trump isn’t doing is winning Chris Christie the voters he needs to pull himself out of the 2024 Presidential basement.
He’s polling at just 2% in the latest poll after polling at zero for months. So, maybe it is working. His poll numbers have gone up 200% since he started riding the ‘I hate Trump’ train across the United States.
It’s like that old song that goes like this, “Anything you can do, I can do better”, except nobody actually believes Christie can be a better President than Trump.
We’re not sure why Christie has gone from Trump trumpeter to Trump antagonist for sure, other than to score ratings on the liberal news networks and the Democrat party.
Maybe Christie is still upset he was never offered a job with Trump. Perhaps it’s because Trump made him ride in the backseat during his first campaign. Maybe it’s because he’s still annoyed because he can’t prove Trump gave him COVID-19?
We’ll probably never know exactly what is driving Chris Christie against Trump, but so far it has been a sad display from a person who wants to be our next President.
It’s almost as if his plan to defeat Trump is a page out of Trump’s own playbook but with lots of moving parts missing.
Christie is not going to win the Republican nomination for President. Everyone in America knows it. If he does, he’s not going to win the general election. Everyone in America knows it. Except for Chris Christie.
Or, maybe he does and this whole Presidential campaign is just another one of his shock and awe public performances with the eng game of further personal enrichment,
Or, maybe it’s just that he’s a sad man with a chip on his shoulder willing to do whatever it takes to get back at his old BFF.
We may never know. What we do know is that Trump, the real estate mogul he is, is now living rent free in Chris Christie’s head.
