WILDWOOD, NJ – Wildwood, known for its beautiful coastline and family-friendly atmosphere, welcomes visitors from near and far. However, to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all beachgoers, the city has established a set of regulations that outline activities that are strictly prohibited on the beach.
Some of those regulations include not throwing balls or frisbees. Others target nudity and alcohol on the beach.
Here are 18 things you should not do on the beach in Wildwood:
Ignoring Lifeguard Instructions: Lifeguards play a vital role in ensuring beach safety. It is prohibited to disregard their orders, tamper with their equipment, or interfere with their duties in any way.
Swimming Beyond Safe Limits: For the safety of swimmers, lifeguards determine and regulate the safe depth and distance from the shore. Swimming or bathing beyond these limits is not allowed.
Dangerous Games or Activities: Throwing objects or engaging in any activity that endangers others is strictly prohibited unless done in areas designated by lifeguards.
Littering: Help keep the beach clean by disposing of trash in designated receptacles and avoiding leaving any trash behind.
Wildlife Interaction: Feeding seagulls or interfering with wildlife is not allowed to preserve the natural balance of the ecosystem.
Smoking, Fires, and Open Flames: To prevent potential hazards, smoking, open fires, and grilling are prohibited on the beach.
Nudity: For the comfort of all beachgoers, public nudity is not permitted.
Restricted Use of Drones and Motorized Vehicles: Operating drones, aircraft, kites, or motorized vehicles is allowed only in areas designated by lifeguards.
Watercraft Rules: Launching, landing, and operating watercraft are restricted to designated areas and times as determined by lifeguards.
Alcohol Consumption: The open display, exposure, or consumption of alcoholic beverages is not allowed on the beach.
Additional Restrictions: Lifeguards and/or police may regulate, prohibit, or limit other beach activities not specified in the rules.
Weapons and Trapping Devices: The discharge of firearms, air rifles, bows and arrows, and other dangerous weapons is strictly prohibited within and outside the municipal boundaries.
Nighttime Beach Access: From May 1st through September 30th, beach access is restricted between 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. the following day, except for authorized personnel and scheduled fireworks nights.
Fishing and Surfing Regulations: On guarded beaches, fishing and surfing are not permitted between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. from May 1st to September 30th, unless otherwise designated.
Quiet Enjoyment: Beachgoers are expected to behave responsibly and avoid causing disturbances or disruptions to others.
Commercial Activities: Conducting any business, selling merchandise, or distributing advertising materials without proper authorization is prohibited.
Pet Restrictions: With the exception of the designated Dog Beach (per Ordinance No. 1196-21), animals are not allowed on the beach.
No Smoking Policy: Smoking is strictly prohibited on the entire beach, including the paths leading to it, at all times.
