Tip Jar Stolen from Maplewood Beauty Salon

MAPLEWOOD, NJ – The owners of A Maplewood Beauty Salon reported the theft of their tip jar last week.

On July 13, the Maplewood Police Department responded to a burglary report at Dominican Sparkle, located at 1675 Springfield Avenue in Maplewood.

The caller reported that the tip jar was not in its usual place and, upon reviewing the interior security cameras, observed a male subject reaching his arm through the mail slot to unlock the deadbolt at approximately 2:54 AM.


After gaining access, the male subject proceeded to the register, where he took the cash drawer and emptied the tip jar contents into a backpack.

According to the caller, the total amount missing at the time of the incident was approximately $930.00. The male subject was then observed walking Eastbound on Springfield Avenue. He is described as a black male with a thin build, tattoos, and carrying a backpack.

The Maplewood Police Department’s Detective Bureau is currently conducting an investigation into the matter.
