Another Person Shot Dead Near Campus of Temple University

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Temple University is becoming one of the most notoriously unsafe university neighborhoods in America as gun violence and deadly shootings are becoming commonplace.

Law enforcement authorities are conducting an investigation following a tragic shooting incident near Temple University in North Philadelphia. The incident occurred on Cecil B. Moore Avenue, resulting in the death of a man and injuries to a woman.

According to Captain Anthony Mirabella of the Philadelphia Police Department, the shooting took place on Saturday at around 1:30 a.m. while a Temple University Police officer was on patrol. Upon hearing gunshots, the officer immediately responded to the scene.


Upon arrival, the officer discovered two individuals, a man, and a woman, lying in the roadway with gunshot wounds. The officer transported both victims to a nearby hospital for medical attention. The woman, aged 22, was shot in the thigh and is currently in stable condition.

The man sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was admitted in critical condition.

The man, believed to be in his 20s, succumbed to his injuries on Saturday afternoon. He had suffered gunshot wounds to the chest, back, and right leg and was pronounced deceased at 4:20 a.m.

The incident happened just a few blocks from Temple University. The woman is a recent graduate of the university. This is the second deadly shooting at this location in 2023.
