SYRACUSE, NY – On the night of Friday, Shymiere Boyd, an 18-year-old male, was apprehended by police officers during a routine stop in the 100 block of Congress Avenue.

Officer Linnertz stopped Boyd for cycling without lights in the street, and Officers Bush and Canestrare assisted.

Boyd was found to have an active arrest warrant. During the interaction, Boyd persistently reached into his pocket and turned away from the officers.

A subsequent search yielded a loaded 9mm Beretta Nano, previously reported stolen, 30 glassine envelopes filled with heroin, and cannabis-rolled papers.

Boyd was transported and booked into the Onondaga County Justice Center on his existing warrant. Additional charges levied include second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.
