K9 Sniffs Out Counterfeit Cash, Gun During Suspicious Person Call

CUMBERLAND, MD – The Cumberland Police Department apprehended 28-year-old Thomas Dillan Westbrook, a resident of Keyser, WV, on Tuesday.

The arrest occurred after a call to the police regarding suspicious activity in a business located on the 400 block of Greene Street.

The police found Westbrook and other individuals in a car outside the business. A police K9 detected the presence of Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS) during a free air scan of the vehicle.


A .40 caliber pistol was found in the driver’s seat during the ensuing search of the vehicle and its occupants. Westbrook was also discovered to have an active warrant in Worcester County, MD, for charges of possessing and issuing forged currency.

Following his initial court appearance, he was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center without bond.
