Facebook Sneaker Seller Victim of Armed Robbery

WEST ORANGE, NJ – The West Orange Police Department is asking to the public for help in identifying a suspect in an armed robbery case.

The incident occurred on Sunday, July 16, at around 6:30 pm at the intersection of Washington Street and Watchung Avenue.

The victim had arranged to meet the suspect at this location to sell sneakers through the Facebook marketplace. During the meeting, the suspect claimed he had a gun, revealing what seemed to be a handgun on his waist.


He grabbed the proceeds and fled towards Columbia Street on Watchung Avenue, pointing the handgun at the victim.

The suspect is described as roughly 16 years old, 5’9″ tall, with a slim build and light skin. Witnesses say he could be white or possibly of Middle Eastern descent. The West Orange Police Department is urging anyone with information to come forward.
