REHOBOTH BEACH, DE – On May 31, the Delaware State Police responded to a report of a shoplifting incident at the Nike Factory store in Rehoboth Beach.

Two men allegedly stole 28 pairs of shoes by concealing them in shopping bags. Without paying for any items, the suspects then left the premises.

Further reports indicate that on June 29, the same individuals returned to the store and stole an additional nine pairs of shoes. Combined, the stolen goods totalled nearly $4,000.

Using surveillance video and images, police identified 22-year-old Maicol Matias-Peña of Bridgeton, New Jersey, as one of the suspects. He was taken into custody by the New Jersey State Police on July 15, and extradited to Delaware on last Thursday.

Matias-Peña was charged with Shoplifting Over $1,500, Shoplifting Under $1,500, and Organized Retail Crime. Following his arraignment by the Justice of the Peace Court 3, he was released on a $2,000 unsecured bond.
