Homeless Man Attacked 88-Year-Old in Chelsea

NEW YORK CITY, NY – A 29-year-old man, Kim Lewis, was arrested and charged with assault by the New York City Police Department on last Friday at 8:30 pm.

Lewis, currently without a fixed residence, was detained following an investigation into an assault that took place on Wednesday.

The victim, an 88-year-old man, was reportedly attacked while walking in front of 248 10th Avenue. According to the police, an unknown individual approached the elderly man from behind and dragged him to the ground, causing minor injuries.


After the assault, the suspect was seen fleeing north on 10th Avenue. The victim declined medical attention.

The investigation is ongoing and the Police Department requests public assistance in identifying the suspect, described as a male with a dark complexion, approximately 6’ tall, athletic build, and facial hair. He was last seen in a light-colored shirt, dark shorts, and light sneakers.
