Choosing to remain anonymous but affectionately nicknamed “Elmer Fudd” due to his love for cartoons, the 73-year-old man stopped at Hillandale Beer & Wine in Silver Spring while running errands to buy some beer. He spotted the Corvette Cash scratch-off and couldn’t resist giving it a try.
Having experienced second-chance wins in previous Lottery promotions, “Elmer Fudd” was aware of the game’s second-chance promotion and decided to add the scratch-off to his purchase. After quickly heading home, he scratched the ticket, hoping to win a prize equivalent to the $5 he spent. To his astonishment, he realized he had won the $50,000 top prize.
Filled with joy and disbelief, he rushed to a nearby store to scan the ticket and confirm his win. Seeing the prize check area message confirming the win, he returned home to safely store the instant ticket.
When asked about his plans for the money, “Elmer Fudd” said he was still in shock and had no concrete plans. However, he expressed his intention to donate most of his winnings to charity, saying, “When I’m blessed, I bless others.” Additionally, he plans to invest in himself, possibly by starting a small business.
The Corvette® Cash scratch-off, which went on sale on April 24, still has four more top prizes available, along with six $5,000 prizes and more than 623,000 other prizes ranging from $5 to $1,000. Players who don’t win instantly can enter their non-winning Corvette Cash scratch-offs into a second-chance promotion for the chance to win prizes of $10,000 or $150,000. Entry deadlines for the second-chance promotion are Aug. 21 and Oct. 9.
