Salisbury, MD – A homicide investigation is in progress as the Maryland State Police intensify efforts to apprehend a suspect in the deadly shooting of 34-year-old Kevin Lamont Chaney in Wicomico County.

The incident occurred last night in Salisbury, leaving the community on edge as Chaney’s killer could be out and about in the community.

The victim, Kevin Lamont Chaney, a resident of Salisbury, was shot and critically injured late yesterday evening. Emergency medical service personnel rushed him to Tidal Health Medical Center, but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The incident unfolded just before 10:00 p.m. yesterday when the Salisbury Police Department responded to a distressing 9-1-1 call regarding a reported shooting at the Pemberton Manor Apartments on Fairground Drive.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered Chaney lying on the ground in front of the apartment complex, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

As of now, specific details about the suspect and shooting remain unknown.

Investigators have been interviewing witnesses and residents in the vicinity to piece together the events leading to this heinous crime.

Evidence has been transported to the State Police Forensic Sciences Division crime laboratory for meticulous analysis.
