Gunshots Break Silence in Newark Neighborhood, One Injured

NEWARK, NJ – Early Monday morning, around 1:50 a.m., shots were fired on the 60’s block of Munn Avenue in Newark’s West Ward, instigating an investigation by Newark Police Department.

Responding units found shell casings and a male with a graze wound that was not life-threatening.

The police detained one individual at the scene. A subsequent search of the area led to the discovery of two firearms.


Police also initiated a foot chase after a suspect who attempted to flee the scene.

The fleeing suspect was eventually apprehended and detained. The Newark Shooting Response Team is presently investigating the details surrounding the incident. Their name was not released.
