Officer-Involved Shooting Incident Under Investigation in Weehawken

WEEHAWKEN, NJ – The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Shooting Response Team is currently investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened in Weehawken on Tuesday.

At around 5 a.m., members of the Weehawken Police Department were patrolling a neighborhood recently impacted by multiple auto thefts.

Officers identified a suspicious vehicle parked in a driveway on Regency Place.

While officers attempted to approach the vehicle, a male individual fled the scene in the vehicle, hitting an Officer on foot. A second Officer discharged his weapon in response. The male later crashed his vehicle into a Port Authority Police Department vehicle and was found with a gunshot wound.

He is currently receiving treatment at Jersey City Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries. The Officer hit by the fleeing vehicle also received medical treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
