Philadelphia DA Gets Conviction in 2022 Vehicular Assault that Injured Four

PHILADELPHIA, PA – The District Attorney’s Major Trials Unit secured the conviction of Andre Shuford on Wednesday, in relation to a 2022 vehicular assault that left four people injured.

Shuford was found guilty of a total of 14 criminal offenses including two counts each of Aggravated Assault and Aggravated Assault by Vehicle, and four counts each of Simple Assault and Recklessly Endangering Another Person.

On the morning of September 2, 2022, first responders arrived at the scene of a hit-and-run crash near the intersection of 56th and Vine streets.


The vehicle driven by Shuford was found abandoned on the 5300 block of Race Street later that day. Within weeks, the Philadelphia Police Crash Investigation Division identified Shuford as the suspected driver.

Shuford turned himself into Philadelphia Police on October 20, 2022, and has remained in custody ever since. His sentencing has been scheduled for October 11. Assistant District Attorney Brian Maguire of the Major Trials Unit led the prosecution.
