LANCASTER CITY, PA – The Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office is examining an officer-involved shooting and burglary incident in the early hours of Sunday on W. New Street.

After reports of a break-in at an occupied home, the Lancaster City Bureau of Police arrived at the scene.

The suspect, 17-year-old Darron Shaw, reportedly emerged from the home brandishing a semiautomatic firearm with an extended magazine, later identified as a ‘ghost’ gun. Confronted by the police, Shaw pointed his weapon at the officers who, after issuing verbal warnings, opened fire.

Despite receiving immediate medical attention, Shaw succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital. Body-worn cameras and security footage from the residence captured the incident.

In order with departmental procedures, the officers involved have been placed on administrative leave. The Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office will conclude the investigation, providing further updates in due course.
