WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – On Friday, Westchester County District Attorney Miriam E. Rocah announced that a New Castle, Delaware man received a sentence of 25 years to life in state prison for the 2021 murder of Jabree West, 22, from Wilmington, Delaware.

Eric Williams, 24, was found guilty of Murder in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree after a four-week trial this past June.

The incident took place on June 20, 2021, around 4:30 a.m. Williams, having a personal issue with West, shot him in the back of the head using a 9mm semi-automatic pistol while West was asleep outside a residential building on Bronx River Road, Yonkers. West later died at New York-Presbyterian Westchester hospital.

Surveillance footage during the investigation showed Williams near the building, adjusting his gun. After moving off-camera, a gunshot was heard. Williams was then seen leaving the crime scene. Further surveillance captured Williams in Yonkers for several hours before being driven back to Delaware. The Yonkers Police Department found multiple photos and videos of Williams and West together on the victim’s cell phone. With the help of digital forensics, police apprehended Williams in Staten Island on December 19, 2021. However, the murder weapon remains unrecovered
