LONG BRANCH, NJ — Another dead whale was found washed ashore on Takanassee Beach on Saturday evening, leading to a flurry of concerns and interest from local residents. The deceased mammal, which was first spotted around 5 p.m., remained on the beach Sunday morning as authorities cordoned off portions of the area.

This incident comes shortly after a whale carcass was seen floating near Deal earlier in the day. Authorities are yet to determine whether it is the same whale or a different one. Deal is located five miles south of Long Branch.

Residents have expressed both concern and surprise at the sighting. The appearance of the dead whale at Takanassee Beach prompted an immediate response from police, who blocked off sections of the beach to investigate the situation. That area of the beach will remain closed until the whale has been disposed of.

Currently, the cause of the whale’s death is unknown, and officials are waiting for further examination by marine biologists.
