BEL AIR, MD – A potentially alarming situation was diffused as the Harford County Sheriff’s Office declared that a suspicious package reported earlier today has been deemed not to be a threat to the public.
The package was reported the Bel Air courthouse.
The package prompted a quick response, resulting in the closure of several roads, including East Churchville at Main St, South Bond St at Alice Anne, and Thompson St. Additionally, buildings from Courthouse North to Pennsylvania Ave, as well as Office Street, were evacuated as a precautionary measure.
Authorities worked diligently to assess the situation and ensure the safety of area residents. As of 6:48 p.m., the package was determined to be non-threatening, and all roads have been reopened.
The Harford County Sheriff’s Office took to social media to thank the community for its patience during the investigation. The focus now shifts to understanding the origins and purpose of the suspicious package, with the investigation set to continue.
