PORT JERVIS, NY – On Friday, Shawn Beach, 43, of Port Jervis, was found guilty on all charges, including Attempted Murder in the Second Degree and Assault in the First Degree, following a jury trial in the Orange County Court.

Beach now faces a possible sentence of up to 50 years in prison. His sentencing is set for October 3, and he remains in custody at Orange County Jail without bail.

The trial revealed that on December 11, 2022, Beach assaulted a woman with a hammer in Port Jervis.

Hearing her screams, her 18-year-old son intervened, and Beach then struck him on the head with the hammer, causing a fractured skull.

The young man was taken to Westchester Medical Center with life-threatening injuries but survived.
