BERLIN, MD – A 65-year-old retiree from Berlin found his lucky streak continuing to an impressive $50,000 top prize on the $50,000 Cash scratch-off game.

Calling himself ‘Old Skool,’ the winner told Lottery officials that a morning visit to cash three $10 winning tickets soon turned into a landslide of luck. Feeling optimistic, he purchased two $50,000 Cash scratch-offs.

“When you’re on a roll, you’re on a roll and you’ve just got to roll with it,” said the winner, whose intuition proved right.

The first ticket he scratched resulted in a $30 win, while the second revealed the grand $50,000 prize. Using his $30 prize, he bought a few more tickets, winning an additional $100.

“I scanned it at the counter scanner and when I saw the $50,000 prize I was all shook up,” he remarked, keeping news of the win quiet and sharing it with only a few people initially. After verifying the result with the Lottery’s mobile app, he rushed home to share the exciting news with his wife.

The retiree, who worked for 45 years in the automotive industry, likened the scratch-off win to receiving an unexpected salary. The prize money will aid with several expenses, offering much-needed support as he lives on a fixed income.

The winning ticket was sold at the Shore Stop convenience store, located at 11121 Racetrack Road in Berlin, which will earn a $500 retailer bonus for selling the ticket.
