Attacker Targeted Hudson River Jogger in LGBTQ Hate Crime

NEW YORK CITY – Police are actively seeking information related to an assault that occurred on Monday, August 21, at approximately 8:30 ams, in Hudson River Park near 353 West Street.

The victim, a 52-year-old female who was jogging at the time, was approached by an unknown individual who made an anti-LGBTQ remark before striking her in the face.

The assault caused the victim to fall and sustain minor lacerations to her face, right knee, and left hand.


The suspect is described as a male with a light complexion, approximately 30 years old, around 6′ 2″ in height, and weighing approximately 210 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray T-shirt, gray shorts, and gray sneakers. After the attack, the suspect fled on foot northbound on West Street.

Authorities are treating the incident with seriousness and have asked for the public’s help in identifying the suspect.
