Chris Christie Should Sue Trump Under Post Civil War Era Clause Says MSNBC

BEDMINSTER, NJ (OP-ED) – At this week’s GOP Presidential debate, Chris Christie was mocked for wanting to run for president of a liberal media network such as MSNBC. Now, Christie’s prospective future employee is egging the former New Jersey Governor on to have him sue former U.S. President Donald J. Trump.

Yes, you can’t write a better script than what unravels daily at MSNBC and within the Christie campaign when it comes to idiocracy.

In a notable moment during the first Republican primary debate, Chris Christie and Asa Hutchinson stood out as the only candidates who did not raise their hands when asked if they would support Donald Trump as the GOP nominee if he is convicted in ongoing criminal cases.

Both former governors represent a minority faction within the Republican Party that prefers to see Trump removed from consideration for the 2024 presidential nomination.

Despite Trump’s lead in the polls and the single-digit support for Christie and Hutchinson, MSNBC has posited that they may have a viable path to keep Trump off the ballot.

The media outlet suggests that either or both should consider filing a lawsuit under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment. This Reconstruction-era addition to the Constitution states that no person who has engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the U.S., or given aid or comfort to its enemies, can hold federal or state office.

As candidates who have expressed their belief that Trump is unfit for the presidency, Christie and Hutchinson could leverage this constitutional provision in a legal challenge and Christie might just be desperate enough to try it, because he obviously has no respect for his own self image.
