Kennedy Says GOP Debate Focused on Each Other, Trump, Not the Issues

With former New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy leading the personal attacks against other candidates, Trump and anyone he could put down, Robert F. Kennedy said the Republican debate last week missed the mark on addressing the real concerns of the American people.

Following the first Republican primary debate for the 2024 presidential campaign, held in Milwaukee, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. expressed disappointment with the candidates’ failure to address urgent issues facing the American people.

Kennedy argued that the debate was misaligned with the national mood, opening with a discussion on Oliver Anthony’s song, “Rich Men North of Richmond,” a piece about working-class struggles. He noted that the candidates avoided discussing pressing topics such as wages, housing, and systemic corruption, instead focusing on Reagan-era talking points like spending cuts, drug policy, and international relations.

Kennedy highlighted the candidates’ lack of attention to the systemic issues that are eroding the middle class, and their unwillingness to provide innovative solutions for infrastructure and environmental decay. He encouraged shifting the focus to popular will and unity, citing Oliver Anthony’s song as a catalyst for meaningful dialogue that could help turn the country around.
