OCEAN COUNTY, NJ – Robert Cohan, 36, pled guilty to Theft by Deception on Monday. The Toms River Township Police Department found that Cohan had stolen approximately $200,000 from more than 10 victims between February and May 2022.

He was charged on June 23, 2022, and later released under New Jersey Bail Reform.

A separate investigation by the Berkeley Township Police Department revealed additional deceptive activities.

In September 2022, Cohan solicited about $20,000 from an elderly victim using a false identity. As a result, Cohan was again charged with Theft by Deception, and his previous release was revoked.

Cohan has been in custody at the Ocean County Jail since October 5, 2022. The State will seek an eight-year prison term and approximately $220,000 in restitution at his sentencing on October 27.
