New Jersey Man Charged for Hit-and-Run

LODI, NJ – The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office announced the arrest of John Laiosa, 76, of Lodi, NJ.

On Saturday, at around 8:47 pm, Hackensack Police Department received a 911 call regarding a hit-and-run incident at the intersection of Essex Street and Lehigh Street.

The pedestrian, a 65-year-old resident of Hackensack, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center.

A subsequent investigation revealed that Laiosa was the driver of a 2019 Ford Mustang that struck the victim and fled the scene.

Laiosa was charged with third-degree knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in serious bodily injury. He was released on his own recognizance pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.
