JERSEY CITY, N.J. — In light of reports that immigrants from New York City are now being sent to an Atlantic City airport, New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez issued a statement today criticizing the Biden Administration and Secretary Mayorkas for their handling of the border crisis. Menendez’s comments came in response to reports of inhumane treatment at a Border Patrol station in Arizona, which allegedly violated a federal court order.

“If these horrific reports are true, Secretary Mayorkas should immediately investigate this matter to ensure no Border Patrol station or agent is subjecting migrants to inhumane treatment or actively endangering their lives,” said Sen. Menendez.

The senator also called on the Biden Administration to implement the Menendez Plan, a proposal he had shared months prior, aimed at managing migration in a humane and orderly manner while also securing the borders.

The relocation of immigrants to an Atlantic City airport marks the border crisis as a pressing issue for New Jersey, prompting local politicians like Senator Menendez to demand action from the federal government.
