TRENTON, NJ — Eight Soldiers and two UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters from the 1-150th Assault Helicopter Battalion of the New Jersey Army National Guard are gearing up to assist in battling unprecedented wildfires in western Louisiana.

They will collaborate with Guard assets from various states as local and state agencies strive to quell the largest fires Louisiana has ever seen.

Brig. Gen. Lisa J. Hou, D.O., The Adjutant General of New Jersey, emphasized the role of the Emergency Management Assistance Compact in facilitating this multi-state response. “New Jersey National Guard is proud to be able to answer the call to help our neighbors in need. That’s what we do,” she stated.
