Chicago, IL – A Univision Chicago news team was robbed at gunpoint early Monday morning in the city’s West Town neighborhood, becoming the subjects of the very story they were reporting on.

This marks the second robbery involving a Chicago news crew this month. On August 8, a WLS-TV photographer was also assaulted and robbed while preparing for an afternoon news conference on the West Side of Chicago.

The news crew was covering a series of robberies in the area when three armed men wearing ski masks confronted them. The robbers took personal items and the crew’s television camera, which contained footage intended for a morning news segment.

Chicago police are investigating the robbery, stating that the suspects fled in a gray sedan and a black SUV. No arrests have been made, and no injuries were reported.

Luis Godinez, vice president of news at Univision Chicago, confirmed the incident. The identities of the 28-year-old reporter and 42-year-old photographer are being withheld for their safety. Both are unharmed and the stolen footage was not recovered.
