Pizza Guy Robbed at Gunpoint in Newark, Assaulted

Newark, NJ – Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying a male suspect connected to an armed robbery that took place on August 19.

At 12:53 a.m., police were alerted to an armed robbery in the 100 block of Vermont Avenue. The victim, employed as a pizza delivery driver, had been summoned to the location for a delivery. Upon arrival, he encountered a male who claimed that another person would be coming with the payment. Shortly after, a second individual appeared, showing a handgun and striking the victim with it. The suspects took $200 and a cell phone before fleeing the scene. The victim was later treated at University Hospital and is in stable condition.

Authorities have obtained a photograph of one suspect and are seeking public assistance for identification. The individual is thought to frequently visit the 100 block of Grove Terrace in Newark.
