Rip currents pose a serious threat to swimmers. Authorities recommend that those caught in a rip current remain calm and swim parallel to the shoreline. Floating or treading water is advised if one is tired, and those unable to escape should face the shore and signal for help.
In addition to rip currents, shore break is another concern. Waves breaking directly on the beach can cause injuries. To minimize risk, individuals should keep their hands in front of them to protect their head and neck when in breaking waves.

The night will be mostly clear, with a low around 70 and southwest winds around 8 mph. Labor Day is also expected to be sunny, with a high near 91 and northwest winds around 7 mph. Monday night will be mostly clear, with a low around 73 and southwest winds around 6 mph.
